There are days when I simply wish to sit quietly indoors, gazing out at the garden, waiting, like the flowers and grasses themselves, for a cool breeze or a passing shower to arrive from somewhere beyond.<\/p>\n

And yet, as Summer begins to retreat, the heart feels a certain reluctance to let it go. For however oppressive the heat may have been, Summer still possesses its own particular charms: radiant mornings, afternoons beneath an intensely blue sky where white clouds drift lazily by, golden patches of sunlight resting upon the trees, and the far-reaching chorus of cicadas that has become part of the memory of the months just gone by.<\/p>\n
